Life really IS like a box of chocolates!

This is unprecedented. I don't usually sell music, but I am never afraid to make an exception where I think it is due.

It's definitely due.

My wife and I went to Borders books and music last week...we do this every so often just because new ideas live in the sounds and the pages, and it's my goal to pour as much into my mind while I have the time as possible.

Unfortunately, when it comes to music, I've heard most all of it before. That sounds egotistical as hell, and I don't mean it that way. Imagine you're a cook and that's all you do for 20 years. After that 20 years, finding a recipe that is totally fresh and different is very difficult - not because the new chefs coming out have no creativity, but because there are only so many permutations.

So, as a result, I wander from listening station to listening station putting on the headphones and dialing in random names I've never heard before, and this time instead of the same ole shit, I found gold in the river by the name of Hiromi Uehara.

Jazz may or may not be your thing (I wasn't restricting my random search to jazz) but I highly encourage you to check out Hiromi regardless of your personal musical tastes. This kick ass young lady burns the ivory off the keys. I have tickets to see her at Sculler's in Boston on the 8th of Sept. Can't wait.

So yes, this is a shameless plug for Hiromi on a blog site. Go watch her vid clip at her website.

Thank you for plug, I'll have to check her out. I bought a new CD last week, also listed under jazz, though I'm not sure why. The CD is by an old classmate of mine with a wonderful voice. There's a link in an article I wrote last week. Check it out if you have a chance.
